The Women’s Ministry meets every Thursday from 10am to approximately 2pm to sew for various missions. If you can sew or knit, or want to learn and have a heart for doing for other’s, we encourage you to join us in helping others not only in our own community but in countries less fortunate than ourselves.

The Women’s Ministry is active in several areas. The ladies of the church have been meeting regularly on Thursdays to sew various clothing; from quilted lap blankets for wheelchairs to dresses, aprons, diapers etc. as well as hand weaving and knitting hats, scarves, and socks from yarn.

Many of the hats and scarves continue to go to national and international missions ministries through Assembly of God World Missions (Stan and Julie Wagner). Hats, scarves, and dresses have also been delivered to children in the Philippines via Mike O’Hare, missionary to the youth and related to one of our parishioners.

A highlight of each Thursday is eating lunch together, lovingly prepared by the ladies, joined by the Pastor and others who drop in to become part of the fellowship.
New airlines baggage fees made transporting suitcases of clothing items overseas very expensive, so we accumulated an inventory of these items. We also found that Teen Challenge Outreach needed these, so we donate many suitcases of hats, scarves, and clothing to them. The ladies toured the VA hospital in Rancho Cordova and distributed wheelchair bags, walker bags, hats and scarves to patients they visited there. Many wheelchair bags have been given to Joni Erickson Tada, whose ministry provides new and refurbished wheel chairs worldwide.

Local area convalescent homes have received many of the beautiful wheelchair and walker bags that have been sewn by the Women’s Sewing Mission. They continue on as the need is there and so appreciated by these patients.

The women created quilts for the Placerville Homeless Camp and here are some grateful campers holding them!

We are also now part of Upendo Women’s Foundation. Click for more information on how you can help.

We expect to keep busy in the coming year, supporting all of these ministries and needs.
